Hello brothers, I am Tito, a Comboni Lay Missionary from Brazil, currently on mission in Mozambique, Africa, more precisely in the mission of Anchilo, province of Nampula.
My job here is to coordinate and guide a group of workers in agricultural, horticultural, and animal production so that they can work the land and earn a living for their families.
Here in Anchilo, at the Paulo VI Catechetical Center, production is intended to help feed the leaders who participate in training meetings, as we have two to three, and sometimes even four, training meetings every month (Catechists, Elders, Justice and Peace, Family, Youth, IAM, Mothers, among other ministries).
I am happy to be able to help in this way in the formation of leaders.
We continue with our series of missionary testimonies. In this one, Sister Lily, a Comboni missionary, tells us about some important moments in her life.
Eight Comboni Lay Missionaries from the parish of Saint Kizito in Begou, in the Diocese of Sarh, took their vows of commitment on Sunday, October 12, at the parish of Saint Kizito in Begou. This took place during a Mass of Thanksgiving presided over by Fr. NGORE GALI CELESTIN, national chaplain of the Comboni Lay Missionaries. This commitment comes after eight years of catechesis for the lay people. In his homily for the occasion, the celebrant asked the lay people to be good examples for the Christian faithful and encouraged them in their commitment to this mission.
The Comboni Family of Guayaquil, Ecuador, organized several activities to celebrate our founder, St. Daniel Comboni. A novena was held from October 1 to 9 this year at the Divine Word Missionaries, with the participation of parish groups, under the direction of Fr. Seraphin Kakwata, MCCJ.
Each day began with the missionary rosary focusing on the continents, followed by the Eucharist and the novena with readings from Comboni’s writings in order to increase knowledge and charism, not only among the members of the Comboni community, but also in the parish community.
For the feast day, we were joined by more parish groups, groups that are part of and collaborate with the Comboni Missionaries: the Afro Pastoral, Lay Missionaries, Ecopax, Friends of the Mission, Missionary America, and Prohuma.
On Friday, October 10, Mass was concelebrated by Fathers MCCJ Seraphin Kakwata, Fernando Flores, and Vicente Turinawe, who shared with the entire community present facts and stories about the mission and invited us to participate more actively in proclaiming the Gospel and helping communities.
At the end of the Eucharist, we were invited to a fraternal agape with the parish community, and we took the opportunity to talk and share our experiences as a Comboni family. Fr. Vicente Turinawe MCCJ from Uganda gave a presentation on some of the activities in his missionary journey and also on what has been done in the parish so far in 2025.
We give thanks for all that we have experienced and achieved during this time, which has strengthened us as a Comboni family and, in one way or another, is motivating others to share the missionary charism in the style of St. Daniel Comboni, not only among those of us who are on this journey but also among others who want to be part of this apostolate, aware that our work and action can be the seed that will bear fruit for the mission in the coming years.
Congratulations to all Comboni Missionaries on this celebration, which fills us with joy and rekindles in each one of us the love and commitment to the charism of our Founder and his zeal for the mission to the poorest and most needy in our places of action.
The Comboni Missionaries in Benin celebrated together the feast of their Founder Saint Daniel COMBONI at the Novitiate of Cocotomey on Friday, October 10, 2025. The festivities were enhanced by the presence of Reverend Father Provincial HOUNAKE Timothée. The celebration of the feast began with a time of adoration followed by the rite of introduction of the twenty-one (21) new Novices to the Novitiate. At the heart of the Eucharistic celebration presided over by the Father Provincial, he exhorted the novices to learn the knowledge of God. The novices must be able to say at the end of their Novitiate: “God exists, I have met him.”
The Reverend Father Provincial gave the novices the four essential points that they must cultivate during this time of Novitiate to become true disciples of the mission. The Father Provincial insisted on dialogue with their Father Master; the reading of the Holy Scriptures; adoration and availability to the mission. Father Provincial HOUNAKE Timothée welcomed the presence of the LMC candidates at the feast of Saint Comboni
At the end of the celebrations, a fraternal agape was offered by the Novitiate leaders. We had a meeting with the assessor of the lay group in Cotonou, Reverend Father Constantin, who promised to begin a series of training sessions for LMC Aspirants before the end of this month of Comboni. The atmosphere was festive and joy was evident on the faces of all the participants in the celebration. May through the intercession of Saint Daniel COMBONI, the good news spread in Africa and throughout the world. Amen
